Design Story

"Coin Cat" is a capsule toy that combines daily habits with a sustainable philosophy, inspired by our unconscious tendency to sort and stack coins on our desks, forming quiet little towers. Our design team has transformed this simple yet therapeutic act into a minimalist and adorable maneki-neko (beckoning cat): its body is composed of coin-shaped layers, as if silently reaching out to beckon good fortune for you.

You can place a favorite coin on its face to give it an expression, or let it stand atop your own tower of change. As the stack grows higher, it symbolizes a daily ritual of "using wealth to attract more wealth." More than just a figurine, Coin Cat, like other works in the Re-TWIST series, is primarily made from recycled ocean styrofoam. Waste from the ocean is cleaned and reprocessed, giving each Coin Cat a unique color and texture.

Through "Coin Cat," we hope to transform seemingly useless waste into an object with an emotional connection. It is both a small item of blessing in daily life and a way for you to participate in sustainability; it is both a cute toy and a design centered on life's rituals. When you empty your pockets of change each day and let Coin Cat stand upon them, you are also taking part in a story of circulation and a spiritual calling that begins from the ocean.
